and\u00a0helping people affected by the life-changing consequences of a fall, the charity is keen to ensure that height\u00a0safety remains a priority despite the understandable\u00a0pressures to kick-start the economy.\u00a0<\/p><p>Comments chair of the trustees, Peter Bennett OBE:\u00a0\u201cFalls from height are the single biggest cause of workplace deaths and one of the main causes of major injuries. It\u2019s therefore imperative that safety is not\u00a0compromised for the sake of productivity.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cWe have witnessed unprecedented collaboration and\u00a0mobilisation of all the stakeholders in industry &#8211;\u00a0government, regulators, employers, trade associations,\u00a0trade unions and employees &#8211; to fundamentally change\u00a0 behaviours to try and ensure that COVID-19 does not wreak\u00a0devastation in the workplace.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0<br \/>\u201cMoving forward, we need to harness and build upon\u00a0that collaboration and sense of common cause, and apply it to that commonplace, often unnoticed danger &#8211; working at height.\u201d<\/p><p>The Foundation, which has three objectives &#8211; raising\u00a0awareness of the risks associated with working at height, researching the causes of falls and providing advice and\u00a0support to those affected by a fall &#8211; is also asking\u00a0anyone who has suffered a fall and experienced its\u00a0consequences to get in touch.\u00a0<\/p><p>Explains charity manager, Hannah Williams: \u201cWe\u2019re\u00a0looking for people to share their personal stories in a\u00a0series of case studies on the Foundation\u2019s website &#8211;\u00a0anonymously if necessary &#8211; for the benefit of others. If\u00a0anyone would like to contribute to the work of the\u00a0charity and help save lives by stopping falls, we would\u00a0be delighted to hear from them.\u201d<\/p><p>The charity is also about to publish the first issue of\u00a0Saving Lives, an occasional e-newsletter for anyone\u00a0involved &#8211; directly or indirectly &#8211; in the work at height sector.
