Thousands take part in No Falls Week height safety campaign

No Falls Week, the annual safe work at height campaign from the No Falls Foundation, has seen record levels of engagement and participation in its third year.

Launched in 2024, No Falls Week is a week-long campaign that takes place each year in May, with a simple yet crucial mission; to raise awareness about the importance of safe working at height, prevent falls, and ensure everyone who works at height goes home safely at the end of each shift.

This year, more than 2,600 organisations across a wide range of sectors, including construction, manufacturing, utilities, agriculture and education, formally signed up to take part to help shine a spotlight on safe work at height. This brings the total number of participants over the last three years to almost 7,000. In addition, there were almost 40,000 visits to the No Falls Week website this year alone, which resulted in over 10,000 resource downloads.

The No Falls Foundation once again joined forces with the Access Industry Forum (AIF), the forum for the ten principal trade associations and federations involved in work at height, whose members provided a host of free online resources, including toolbox talks, posters, factsheets, checklists, videos and interactive quizzes to help organisations get involved.

Hannah Williams, Charity Manager at the No Falls Foundation, said: “We’ve been absolutely delighted with the number of organisations actively taking part in this year’s No Falls Week, all showcasing their commitment to keeping people safe when working at height. We’ve seen organisations down tools for safety stand-downs and demos, deliver toolbox talks and even hold bake sales to raise awareness and vital funds for the charity.

“Falls from height are consistently the leading cause of workplace fatalities in the UK, with 35 people losing their lives at work last year due to a fall from height1. The year before it was 49, and the year before that 41 people didn’t make it home to their families2. And next year, we’ll see the same again, unless we say enough is enough and start taking responsibility for our own safety, and the safety of others, when working at height.

“Unlike some other workplace injuries, falls from height can have long-term, life-changing consequences for the person involved, their families, friends, colleagues, and the wider community. That’s why we need No Falls Week; to raise awareness of the risks when working at height, spark important conversations that continue throughout the year, and encourage positive change in the workplace to prevent falls from height.

“We’d like to thank all members of the Access Industry Forum for again providing the campaign resources and toolkits, as well as our No Falls Supporters for their continued support.”

No Falls Week will return 17-21 May 2027. For further information on No Falls Week and to sign up to get involved, visit nofallsweek.org
