Research

Research and the exchange and sharing of knowledge and information are an  essential part of the Foundation’s work.

The Foundation promotes, undertakes, encourages and funds research – in particular, but not exclusively – into behavioural-based and cultural safety which makes working at height safer.

It uses both quantitative and qualitative research methods to underpin its work and better understand the way people think and act. Often two very different things in the world of work at height.

The Foundation also advocates the need for, and is working towards, a more comprehensive system of accident reporting designed to provide additional and more detailed information about the nature and causes of falls from height. This will help shape and inform height safety in the future.

Importantly, the Foundation also provides grants to improve the testing and design of equipment, products and methods – and techniques – which prevent or reduce the likelihood of falls, or which eliminate the need for working at height wherever possible.
